I am Carlo Bazzicalupo, the owner of Catasail Boat Charter and the skipper of our Lagoon 380 "Miragua". Put at the helm of my grandfather's gozzetto at three months, I was weaned by my father Lucio, a great sea dog, who has always owned boats and passed on to me a deep love for the sea and fishing. After 5 years of competing on lasers as a teenager, at 17, for the scientific high school diploma, I converted the postal savings certificates given to me by my grandparents to buy myself my first sailing boat. Obviously a dinghy, a used 420 with a wooden keel and centerboard that with the previous owners had won the World Championship in its category, "Pensacola" which I still have. My first crossing, after purchasing it, still a minor, was from Naples to Messina, doing nautical camping for the whole summer. Since then I was struck by this passion and I began to study everything that would allow me to navigate, on sailboats, in maximum safety. Nautical license without limits of sail and motor miles, Limited Certificate of Radiotelephonist for Ships, PADI diving license, assistant FIV federal instructor, expert sailor and a coastal sailing instructor with the Italian Naval League working for over 15 years as an instructor for the most important Neapolitan Sailing Clubs and beyond. From the age of 18 I embarked, during the summer seasons, as a skipper for the major charter companies in Italy and on all types of existing sailboats, gaining great experience and familiarity also with multihulls. I was the owner for 5 years of a beautiful wooden sailboat of 19 meters and 40 tons of displacement, called "Proto", flying the US flag (registered in Delaware) and built in Türkiye. For my competitive career (it is only worth remembering ...): 7th place at the Hoby Cat 16 World Championships, I won 3 Velelonga, and about ten offshore sailing championships in the Gulf of Naples and Campi Flegrei, including spring, autumn and winter championships, embarking with different roles on the most competitive boats. I continued my training career by taking the Navigation booklet and taking all the preparatory exams for it, in Italian and some in English. The training culminated in obtaining the title of Master of Yachts 200 Gross Tons Limited of the International Yacht Training Worldwide. Today, when I do not hold the role of Master of Yachts .. In my free time, in winter ... I dance tango and play at being an accountant .. Even with a fair amount of recognition ;)
